Dimapur, April 3: The Dimapur Naga Students' Union (DNSU) has submitted a representation to Nagaland Governor La Ganesan, pressing for the repeal of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA), strict implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP), and urgent infrastructure improvements in Dimapur.
DNSU termed AFSPA "draconian," citing human rights violations and urging its immediate repeal. It also called for an expedited resolution to the Naga political issue, stressing the growing frustration among youth.
On ILP, the union demanded full enforcement in Dimapur, Chümoukedima, and Niuland, citing economic control by non-locals and the "benami" system. It opposed any ILP exemptions, asserting they would undermine indigenous rights.
To tackle Dimapur’s traffic congestion, DNSU proposed flyovers and faster completion of the Amar Mill-National Highway road. The union expressed confidence in the Governor’s intervention to ensure lasting peace and development.
